Ohne Hoffnung auf baldige Rettung müssen die Überlebenden zusammenhalten und sich gemeinschaftlich organisieren. Doch bald schon spalten Streit und Machtkämpfe die Gruppe in zwei Lager: Auf der einen Seite steht Ralph, der sich für zivilisiertes Verhalten und Solidarität einsetzt, und auf der anderen Jack, der eine Horde gewaltbereiter Rüpel um sich schart.
